Ephesus Ancient City was an ancient port city whose well-preserved ruins are in modern-day Turkey. It was one of the twelve cities of Ionian League in Classical Greek Era. It is a sacred place for Christians because of its connections with Mother Mary, St. Paul and St. John The Evangelist.
Artemis Temple was one of the Seven Wonders of the World of its age, it was burned by Herostratus once but rebuilt again by Ephesisans. It was a huge, marble temple on the seaside. Artemis was the goddes of hunt, chastity, childbirth, wild animals.
Mother Mary’s House is a Catholic shrine located at the skirt of Mount Nightingale in Selcuk. It is discovered in the 19th century thanks to Anne Catherine Emmercih’s vision. The house is believed where Virgin Mary lived for 3 years before she died. Pope Pius XII visited and declared the area as a Holy Place and the Catholic place of pilgrimage in 1951 and since then it has millions of visitors from all around the world.
Tour Program
• Our Guide will meet you at the Kusadasi Cruise Port upon your arrival and we drive to Selcuk city which takes approximately 20 min one way.
• First of all we will visit Virgin Mary’s House.
• After Mother Mary’s House we start visiting Ephesus Ancient City with the most important places such as Celsus Library, Great Theater, Temple of Hadrian, the fountain of Trajan, Hercules Gate, Domitian Temple and more.
• We will have lunch at a local Turkish restaurant.
• On our way back we will visit Artemis Temple.
• You will be transferred back to Kusadasi Cruise Port at the end of the tour.
